2.75 Million nappies are sent to landfill everyday and they take up to 500 years to biodegrade into a mix of micro-plastics and toxins. It's not great news.
Cloth nappies aren't for everyone, so it's important to look for a sustainable nappy if you are using disposables.
Checking to see what it is made from is the first step, since if the material its' made from is not sustainable or is a petro-chemical, it doesn't really help the problem.
We choose bamboo since it is one overall one of the most sustainable materials on the planet and better for us. It's naturally hypoallergenic and doesn't need pesticides and fertilizers so it is more suitable for those with sensitive skin.
Secondly, everything is bio-degradeable, so it is important to choose something that will bio-degrade quickly, returning to the earth, without all the nasties.
Our nappies are certified chemical free and are independently tested so we know they will bio-degrade in 147 DAYS. That is so imporant, since it means that any nappies that land up in landfill will be gone within 4.5 months!
By switching to a more sustainable and natural nappy, you are putting your child and the planet first.
